Sea of ​​clouds in Ta Xua - Son La

Located at an altitude of over 1,500 meters above sea level with picturesque natural scenery, Ta Xua commune has long been known as the "cloud paradise" of Son La and the Northwest region. From November to March each year, the highlands of Ta Xua enter the "cloud hunting season," becoming an attractive destination for travel enthusiasts who love exploration and unique experiences.

As the sun rises, clouds begin to rise from the valley floor, sometimes thick, sometimes thin, sometimes swirling like a waterfall, sometimes gently drifting across the mountain peaks. Sunlight filters through the layers of clouds, creating shimmering streaks of light, making the scenery both majestic and breathtakingly poetic.

Ms. Pham Thu Trang, from Da Nang city, is a travel enthusiast who loves exploring beautiful places. After a 22-day cross-Vietnam trip, in early February this year, Trang and her friends visited Ta Xua. She excitedly shared: "I had seen many pictures of Ta Xua, but only when standing amidst this vast sea of ​​clouds could I truly appreciate its beauty. The clouds drifted silently at the foot of the mountains, and the early morning sunlight piercing through the layers of white clouds made me feel like I was stepping into a celestial paradise. That moment made all my fatigue disappear, leaving only peace and a sense of awe before the majestic nature."

According to the experience of many "backpackers," the best place to admire the clouds in Ta Xua is the Dinosaur's Backbone in Chong Tra village. Along the winding road around the mountain peak amidst the vast natural landscape, visitors can take in the breathtaking view of the swirling sea of ​​clouds right below their feet. Additionally, the Wind Peak area in Chung Trinh village is also an ideal choice for tourists to check in, take photos, "touch" the clouds and wind, slow down amidst nature, and capture beautiful moments with friends and family.

Mr. Tran Minh Duc, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, excitedly shared: "After visiting Ta Xua three times, this time I was lucky enough to see the sea of ​​clouds with my own eyes. I woke up very early, chose a cafe with a panoramic view to watch the sunrise. In the cool weather, sipping a hot cup of Ta Xua tea while gazing at the swirling river of clouds flowing down the valley, I fully appreciated the peaceful and captivating beauty of this place."

In recent years, images of Ta Xua have spread widely on travel forums and social media, attracting an increasing number of tourists to this "cloud paradise." Infrastructure leading to Ta Xua has been invested in, with central roads paved, making travel convenient for cars. Tourism services have gradually developed; currently, the entire commune has 171 tourism service businesses, including 88 households operating community guesthouses, accommodating approximately 1,500 tourists per day and night; dozens of cafes with cloud views; and motorbike rental and tour guide services to meet the needs of tourists.

Ms. Thào Thị Vua, owner of Vị Nhà coffee shop in Tà Xùa commune, said: "In the morning, we serve breakfast and coffee. During the cloud-hunting season, more tourists come to Tà Xùa, bringing a fairly stable income to our family. In the future, we will expand our scale and add new drinks and more unique dishes to meet the needs of tourists."
